Sorrow & Joy: A Poem In Two Moods

Sorrow

I loosen my grip
and the water
slips through,

falls from my eyes,
tilts my head
back to ground,

muddies my path,
forming puddles
to catch the sky

and a playground
to splash my feet,
spreading out

into a lakebed
where all the life
I have damned

lifts its curse

and there I dive.

Joy

I loosen my grip
and the water
slips through,

falls from my eyes,
tilts my head
back to ground,

muddies my path,
forming puddles
to catch the sky

and a playground
to splash my feet,
spreading out

into a lakebed
where all the life
I have damned

lifts its curse

and there I dive.
